Nine out of ten people have heard about Bitcoin in the UK, so it was recorded by an account made by a public global company.

YouGov, a global public opinion and data company, conducted a Bitcoin survey among UK citizens in the UK this November 7, and found that 93% of Britons have heard of BTC, but only 4% bought it. The good news is that the cryptocurrency still has a lot of room to grow in the United Kingdom.

YouGov reveals that only 4% say they understand Bitcoin "very well" and that one in five people believe that cryptocurrencies can be as common as cards or cash in the future.

What might be surprising is that only 4% of Britons have left and bought BTC over the years.

However, less surprising is that 6% of men say they bought Bitcoin, compared to 1% of women, and one in eleven (9%) aged 18 to 24 says they bought the cryptocurrency, in compared with one in one hundred (1%) of those over 55 years.

The use of Bitcoin for payments on the Internet, and in conventional stores, is undoubtedly low and 43% of those interviewed said they expect this to remain unchanged.

In addition, a significant number of young people, 36% of respondents in the range of 18 to 24 years, say they know personally someone who has bought Bitcoin before, while only 7% of those over 55 years.

It is interesting to note that YouGov's research shows that the British are not particularly surprised by the concept that the cryptocurrency is controlled, not by a central institution, but by the people who use it.

Bitcoin in the mainstream

Despite the fact that it is only 10 years old, Bitcoin has definitely managed to receive a great general attention. However, it goes without saying that much of this was due to its unprecedented increase at the end of 2018 when the cryptocurrency reached $ 20,000.

The German Consumer Centers of two federal states, Hesse and Saxony, have recently conducted a similar survey. Of the 1000 Germans surveyed between the ages of 18% and 39%, 55% said they had heard of cryptocurrencies before. In addition, 28 percent of respondents aged 18 to 29 considered that the purchase of cryptocurrencies was "conceivable".
